Portland’s original Irish folk punk sea shanties from HELL!!!

Rum Rebellion began as an all-acoustic project in January 2005. At first we played all traditional Irish tunes and sea shanties, Within a year we added drums and electric bass, started writing our own tunes, and began playing shows. “Cruisin’ For A Boozin’”, the first (and only) full-length recording, was independently released in Nov. 2006. In 2007 we started playing out-of-town shows in Oregon and Washington. We embarked on three tours in 2008 and two in 2009. 2009 also saw the addition of electric guitar and the release of “Pick Yer Poison”, a split album with our comrades Hammered Grunts on Rodent Popsicle Records. Plans for 2010 include a West Coast US tour in March, a 2nd full-length recording to be released in July, and a full tour of either Europe or the US following the release.
Many talented musicians have played a variety of instruments with Rum Rebellion during our existence, including five drummers (what the hell is it with drummers?), fiddle, accordian, and bouzouki. Our current instrumentation includes acoustic guitar, electric guitar, tin whistle, mandolin, banjo, piano accordian, bass, and drums. It’s been one hell of a ride with so many different talents contributing at different points in the band’s history. We’re all very grateful for everyone that has played with us!
CHEERS to everyone who has come to our shows, gotten shitfaced, thrown down in the pit, and supported us on the way! Several tours & new tracks are on the way for 2010!
