About Sioux Ste. Marie

Formed in early 2011, Sioux Ste. Marie consists of four Indiana natives offering a Midwestern approach to American roots music.  Pulling from both classic and modern musical elements, Sioux Ste. Marie songs carry a well-balanced weight on the listener’s palate.

At its foundation, the songwriting of singer/guitarist, Corey Drake appeals to an Alt. Country aesthetic, rooted in sincerity and pop-sensibility.  Multi-instrumentalist, David Grant, joins him to infuse a swell of bluesy, old-world texture through the use of lap steel, Rhodes, and horns. Bassist, Jason Bodley along with drummer, Lucas Huffman complete the rhythm section as they combine rock grooves with detailed, jazz-influenced complexity.  Altogether, Sioux Ste. Marie pays tribute to a montage of American heritage music with an indie rocker’s spirit, all of which is seasoned by the Midwestern backdrop they call home.
