The Fort Wayne Beard and Mustache Society kicks off the 2012 fundraising season with a special evening to benefit the Community Harvest Food bank featuring Walter Parks and Swamp Cabbage with North River Agents at the Brass Rail on Monday, May21rst, 2012. 9pm. $5 cover; $3 if you bring 2 or more non-perishable food items. Cash donations will be gratefully accepted as well.

The group Swamp Cabbage, featuring guitarist Walter Parks, will perform along with the North River Agents beginning at 10 p.m. at the Brass Rail, 1121 Broadway.

Parks is a former lead guitarist for Woodstock music festival performer Richie Havens. He formed Swamp Cabbage in 2001 as a way to explore his “southern musical influences,” a news release said. The band’s sound is described as a “raspy singin’ combo of fatback blues and trailer park funk.”
