The Benefit For Justin and Daniel
The Benefit Weekend for Justin and Daniel is just about upon us at the Brass Rail. I’ve provided links below to all the different events and opportunities you’ll have this weekend to play a part in this movement. If you don’t know the predicament they’re in or if you’re not aware of the Benefit and the many ways you can help, let me enlighten you. Justin and Daniel are a married couple that are also Brass Rail Family. Daniel is from Canada, and upon his last visit, he was denied entry back into the states to be with his husband. He remains in Canada today, but not by choice. They are stuck in this gray area of legalities that involves immigration AND same-sex marriage laws. Their many friends and those that consider them family are determined to reunite them and help them cut through all the ridiculous red tape and legalities that are dictating their lifestyle and happiness. This weekend you have a multitude of opportunities to help, and I’ve listed links to all these below. Despite the gravity of the situation, it WILL be a kickass really fun weekend, and I really hope you all can find an opportunity to drop by and be a part of the solution and partake in the festivities. Here’s what we got:
1. There’s an online fundraiser. Can’t make it to the Rail this weekend? Make a monetary donation to help with lawyer’s fees, etc., at your leisure here.
2. Stop into The Brass Rail from now until Sunday night and pick up your $10 benefit tee, of which all the proceeds got to Justin and Daniel. Limited Edition via Bob Storey design; once they’re gone, they’re gone, so don’t miss out on your opportunity to wear your support.
3. Come out Friday night for a fantastic lineup of bands that believe in this cause and were gracious enough to donate their sweat, talents, and music Friday night for Justin and Daniel. 100% of the money raised at the door goes directly to Justin and Daniel 9PM/$7.
4. Sunday Brunch at the Rail, from 10am – 2pm, presented by the Fort Wayne Beard and Mustache Society. Featuring Zoe’s Famous Bloodies, the Tropical Bloody, Zojitos, and the culinary genius of Jim Martin. Supplies are limited, first come, first served brunch menu listed below. ***FOR EVERY PERSON THAT SHOWS UP IN PAJAMAS, ZOE AND JIM WILL DONATE $1 TO THE BENEFIT.**
5. Special Sunday Edition Trivia with Ben and Kelly from 2pm-4pm. Because nothing says fun like trying to use your brain after eating a big-ass brunch and drinking Bloody Marys and Zojitos.
6. Get your Picture taken in Daniel’s Door Chair, with Bambi Guthrie photographing, Sunday, 2pm- 4:30pm. Anyone can be a doorman, but no one does it like Daniel. Make a donation and get your photo taken in Daniel’s Door Chair checking ID’s, using his clicker, throwing out ruffians.
7. Ashley Beatty’s Silent Art Auction, Sunday 5pm-7pm. Ashley has masterfully organized a silent art auction from an incredible cross-section of local and nationally-recognized artists willing to donate their craft to the Benefit. This will be a sight to behold. Believe me, I’ve seen some of the donations, and you’ll want to, too. And there might be a few that you can’t live without.
8. Night Two of music for Justin and Daniel. We had so many bands want to generously donate their time that we had to create another night of incredible music to showcase the outstanding outpouring of support. 8pm, $5.
